The Gampaha district yesterday recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases yesterday with 591 new infections, after reporting a mere 35 cases on Wednesday.
3,039 COVID-19 cases were identified yesterday, increasing Sri Lanka’s coronavirus caseload to 345,118.
The National Operation Centre for COVID-19 Prevention Outbreak said the Colombo district identified 455 coronavirus positive patients yesterday, 437 in Kalutara, 327 in Galle, 179 in Ratnapura, 136 in Puttalam, 113 in Matale and 100 in Badulla.
Meanwhile 84 coronavirus positive infections were recorded from Anuradhapura, 82 from Kurunegala, 65 from Ampara, 64 from Hambantota and 53 from Kandy.
Among yesterday’s cases, 49 were identified from Kilinochchi, 48 from Monaragala, 46 individuals who arrived from overseas and 37 persons from Jaffna.
Furthermore, Trincomalee and Kegalle recorded 28 COVID-positive cases, while Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa identified 26.
25 cases were also reported from Vavuniya, 22 from Matara, 13 from Nuwara Eliya, three from Mullaitivu and two from Mannar.
