The Gampaha district yesterday recorded 441 new coronavirus cases.
The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in the country has risen to 308,839 following the detection of 2,177 patients yesterday.
389 new patients were detected from Kalutara, 158 from Matara, 125 from Ratnapura and 119 from Colombo.
The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said 116 tests returned positive results from Matale, 112 from Kegalle, 100 from Puttalam, 91 from Badulla, 66 from Kurunegala, 58 from Jaffna and Batticaloa, 46 from Nuwara Eliya and Kilinochchi with 43 from Kandy.
The Center added that 37 cases were found to be positive in Ampara, alongside 32 from Hambantota, 27 from Polonnaruwa, 25 from Monaragala, 23 from Trincomalee, 13 from Galle, 12 from Anuradhapura, six from Vavuniya and Mullaitivu and a single case from Mannar.
The group also included 27 persons who arrived in the island from overseas.
