COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says the distribution of fuel to filling stations across the country has return to normalcy.
Earlier this week, long queues were reported at filling stations across the country, after reports of filling station owners not placing new orders in anticipation of a massive price reduction on the 1st of April.
The distribution of fuel was also disrupted after few trade unions decided stage a strike over several demands.
Following the development, the government decided to bring forward the April fuel price revision, and on Wednesday, it reduced prices of all variants of fuel.
The government also provided additional security to Kolonnawa and Muthurajawela Terminals to facilitate the fuel distribution.
Authorities took steps to send 20 trade union leaders who were disrupting the distribution of fuel, on compulsory leave.
According to a CPC spokesperson a majority of those who staged the strike have called of the union action.
The CPC also confirmed that fuel bowsers are leaving the terminals without major delays from last evening.
Accordingly, the fuel distribution mechanism has return to normalcy in the country after two to three days.
