Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa says certain groups are engaged in fraudulent activities amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
MP Premadasa said the public is under immense pressure due to such fraudulent activities.
Speaking during an event in Kegalle, the Parliamentarian said such groups are attempting to profit amidst a pandemic.
He said all such individuals must be brought to book irrespective of their rank and handed the maximum punishment and reiterated the Samagi Jana Balawegaya does not condone corrupt politics.
On a separate note, MP Premadasa urged the government to immediately suspend the process of appointing Monitoring MPs.
He said the priority must not be appointing Monitoring MPs and providing them perks including vehicles and fuel allowances when the country’s citizens are battered.
He added public representatives are funded through taxpayers money.
The Opposition Leader urged the government to instead provide the allocated funds to government hospitals.
