A Fundamental Rights petition has been filed before the Supreme Court challenging the appointment of the current Cabinet.
The petition has been filed by the Secretary of the Professionals’ National Front Kapila Renuka Perera.
82 respondents including the Attorney General, the Prime Minister, the Cabinet Ministers, all State Ministers and the Secretary to the President have been named in the petition. The petitioner has pointed out that the appointment of the incumbent Cabinet of Ministers is in violation of the Articles of the Constitution.
