Four persons including the wife of Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen have been further remanded till the 23rd of August over investigations into the death of the 16-year-old girl who was employed as a domestic worker at the MPs residence.
The order was issued by Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya this afternoon.
NewsRadio Court correspondent said the bail application submitted on behalf of the suspects was rejected.
Accordingly, the wife of MP Bathiudeen, her father, her brother and the broker who brought the girl to Colombo for employment were remanded.
The brother of MP Bathiudeen’s wife was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting another domestic worker at the same residence.
Meanwhile, the Magistrate directed the Inspector General of Police to take necessary steps to prevent the Police from releasing sensitive information pertaining to the investigation to the media prior to tabling facts before Court.
The IGP was further directed to conduct an investigation and submit a report to Court pertaining to sensitive information being issued to media by Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana.
