The Board of Control for Cricket in India has added five spare players into the squad to take on Sri Lanka in the second Twenty20 in Colombo.
The second game of the T20I series will go ahead as per the schedule later this evening.
Ishan Porel, Sandeep Warrier, Arshdeep Singh, Sai Kishore and Simarjeet Singh, who are in Sri Lanka as net bowlers, have been included as regular members of the squad.
The move became imperative after eight regular players from the touring party have become ineligible for having come in close contact with Krunal Pandya, who has tested positive and has been separated from the squad.
Although all of them had returned negative results in the RT-PCR test conducted yesterday, they are unlikely to feature in the match.
Veteran Shikhar Dhawan is available to lead the side.
The unavailability of nine players including Krunal Pandya had left the squad with shortage of players.
After Krunal’s positive test result, the second T20I, which was originally scheduled to be played yesterday, was postponed by a day.
India lead the three-match T20I series after they won the first T20I by 38 runs on Sunday in Colombo.
The rescheduling means that the teams will play back-to-back games today and tomorrow at the R Premadasa Stadium.
Today’s game will get underway at 8pm.
