(NewsRadio); Russia’s Red Wings airlines today commenced flight operations to Sri Lanka.
The first flight of Russia’s Red Wings with 398 passengers onboard landed at the Mattala International Airport at 9.48 this morning.
Red Wings is scheduled to operate flights on Mondays and Thursdays till March 2023.
This is the third Russian airlines to operate flights to Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow said Red Wings is expected to increase the number of weekly flights to Mattala from next week.
The Embassy added that given that the Russian Federation could be regarded as an important tourist traffic source to Sri Lanka at this trying time, it is of the view that flight operations will be of vital importance to revitalise the tourism industry of the country.
