State Minister of Co-operative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna says a final decision pertaining to prices of wheat flour and cement will be reached in the coming days.

The State Minister said relevant companies were consulted if they can maintain the supply of goods without a shortage if approval is granted to increase prices.

State Minister Alagiyawanna said due to price increases in the global market, milk powder, wheat flour and cement companies have repeatedly requested an increase in prices.

He said the Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority and the Board of Directors engaged in talks with the companies.

The State Minister said in the event of an increase in prices, they requested the companies to refrain from requesting further price hikes for at least three months and to import sufficient stocks from parent companies for at least six months.
