Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera says the final decision regarding the Muthurajawela Wetland Sanctuary will be announced within the next two weeks.
The Minister said two rounds of discussions in this regard were held in Parliament during the past two days.
The Minister refuted claims that 6,000 hectares will be taken over.
Minister Amaraweera assured there would be no takeover of public land or evictions.
The Environment Minister added steps will be taken to maintain the Muthurajawela Wetland Zone as a sensitive ecological area.
