The Joint Development Officers’ Association says the directive issued to resume state sector operations at full capacity from today puts expectant women at risk.
The Association said some expectant women have not obtained a vaccine against COVID-19 due to health reasons and therefore reporting to work daily is a serious health risk.
The Association charged that although it directed several letters raising objections to the move, a favorable solution has not been provided thus far.
Speaking to NewsRadio General Secretary of the Association Dhammika Munasinghe said the new circular issued has annulled the previous circular issued considering the coronavirus situation in the country.
He said although the situation has not improved, all state sector employees have been summoned to work.
Dhammika Munasinghe said the move has threatened the safety of the state employees. He noted if the inhumane decision is not reconsidered, they may consider staging trade union action.
