COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The European Commission has assured that it will engage with Sri Lanka for positive progress on the Generalized System of Preferences Plus or GSP+ scheme.
During a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Sabry and Vice-President of the European Commission and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell Fontelles, matters related to Sri Lanka’s economic recovery, reconciliation and democracy were discussed.
Minister Ali Sabry said he updated Vice-President Josep Borrell Fontelles on the Indian Ocean Rim Association and its vital role in the Indian Ocean.
The Foreign Minister said during the meeting Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell Fontelles agreed to provide assistance for Sri Lanka’s reconciliation process.
Minister Sabry added that Josep Borrell Fontelles, who is the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, assured to support Sri Lanka on the progressive work being done on areas including economic recovery, reconciliation and safeguarding democracy.
