The suspect who abducted a child in Eppawala and the individual who provided the suspect lodging have been remanded till the 4th of January.
The nine year old boy who was abducted in Keeralogama, Eppawala, was found close to midnight yesterday (23).
The suspects were remanded after being produced before the Thambuttegama Magistrate ML Nuwan Kaushalya at his official residence.
The chief suspect had disconnected his mobile phone since the day of the abduction thereby creating obstacles in locating the child.
However, last evening the child’s mother had received a phone call.
The suspect had informed that the child was safe and that the child was with him in Thalawa, Anuradhapura and stated that he will hand over the child promptly and claimed that he took the child with him on the child’s request.
The phone call was traced to Rikillagaskada by Police, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the discovery of the child.
