COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Entrance fee for Botanical gardens in the country have been increased with effect from the 1st of July.
The gazette notification in this regard has been issued by the Minister of Tourism and Lands.
Accordingly, admission fees for adults and children over twelve years of age to enter the main botanical gardens in the country have been increased from Rs. 100 to Rs. 200.
The admission fee for local children below twelve years and school children has been increased to Rs. 30 from Rs. 20.
According to the new gazette, adults over the age of sixty will be allowed to eneter Botanical gardens for a fee of Rs. 50.
They will be required to produce their National Identity Card to verify the age.
Meanwhile, entrance fees for foreigners over 12 years of age have been increased from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 3,000.
Admission fee for foreign children below 12 years has been increased to Rs. 1,500 from Rs. 1,000 while foreign school children and university students will be admitted for a concessionary fee of Rs. 2,000.
They will be required to produce a satisfactory proof of status.
Meanwhile, residents within the botanical garden perimeter, government servants who enter into the gardens for official purposes, persons who are granted free admission by the Director General and, visitors hosted by the government are exempted from paying the entrance fee.
