Dubai-based airline Emirates says the suspension on incoming scheduled passenger flights from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh has been extended until at least July 28.

The airline said in a statement that passengers who have connected through these countries over the last 14 days, too, will not be accepted to travel from any other point to the UAE.

UAE nationals, holders of UAE Golden Visas and members of diplomatic missions who comply with updated Covid-19 protocols are exempt and may be accepted for travel.

The United Arab Emirates government first imposed restrictions on India flights in late April and on flights from Sri Lanka.

Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal on May 12, due to the spread of the highly transmissible Delta COVID-19 variant.
