COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Chairman of the Electricity Users’ Association MDR Athula says they are contemplating on taking legal action against the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka after the PUCSL granted approval to increase electricity tariffs.
MDR Athula said the PUCSL sought public opinion following a request made by the Ceylon Electricity Board to increase electricity tariffs.
He said during the public consultation, 90 per cent of the respondents opposed the electricity tariff increase.
Chairman of the Electricity Users’ Association MDR Athula noted that despite the strong opposition by the consumers, the PUSCL granted approval to increase tariffs.
He said therefore they will seek to take legal action.
