COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The National Election Commission will engage in a round of discussions with election monitors today (11).

This is the first round of discussions between the Election Commission and observers in relation to the conduct of the Local Authorities Election.

Meanwhile, election monitors have decided to act as intermediaries in the writ petition filed calling for the suspension of the Local Authorities Election.

Nominations for the Local Authorities Election will be accepted between the 18th and 21st of January.

The Election Commission said nominations will be accepted between 8.30am from the 18th till noon on the 21st.
