Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera says eight more products harmful to the environment will be banned in future.
The Minister speaking to media after a meeting of the Presidential Task Force for a green socio-economy said, the polythene and plastic ban was implemented in order to protect the environment.
Minister Amaraweera added five products including sachet packets were banned and are being systematically removed from the market adding eight other products will also be banned in the near future.
The Minister said raids are being carried out pertaining to the lunch sheet ban.
He said the use of shopping bags will also be reduced with the aim of protecting the environment.
