Court today acquitted the father of Alawdeen Ahmed Muwath who denoted a bomb at the St. Anthony’s Shrine in Kochchikade in 2019 of all charges.
The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala.
He was arrested and remained in remand custody for nearly one and half years in relation to the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
He was then questioned under detention.
The Magistrate released the individuals based on the advice by the Attorney General who has informed that they do not intend to pursue charges against the father of Alawdeen Ahmed Muwath.
Accordingly, Ahmed Lebbe Alawdeen was released from the case.
