The Supreme Court today set dates to hear the Fundamental Rights petitions filed against 12 defendants, including former President Maithripala Sirisena and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe pertaining to several charges, including failing to prevent the 2019 April Easter Sunday attacks.
Accordingly, the petitions will be taken up for hearing on the 14th, 15th, 16th and 18th of March next year.
The petitions will be heard before a bench comprising Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya and justices Buwaneka Aluwihare, Priyantha Jayawardena, Murdu Fernando, LMTB Dehideniya, S Thurairajah and Gamini Amarasekera.
However, Justices Gamini Amarasekera and Priyantha Jayawardena stepped down from the bench today citing personal reasons.
