COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Dates have been fixed by the Court of Appeal to consider the writ petition filed by the Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, seeking an order to direct the Attorney General to implement the recommendations of the Presidential Commission on Inquiry appointed to investigate the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks.
The bench consisting of Justices Dhammika Gonapola and Sobitha Rajakaruna ordered the petition be take up on the 9th of May.
The writ filed by Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith states that the Presidential Commission recommended taking action against a group of Police officers for failing to prevent the bombings, despite receiving prior intelligence.
Accordingly, the petitioner is seeking an order from the Court of Appeal directing the Attorney General to implement the recommendations of the Presidential Commission on Inquiry on Easter Sunday Attacks.
