COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says the drafting of the new Electricity Act is at the final stage.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has assured that the preliminary draft for the new Electricity Act which will pave the way for reforms within the Ceylon Electricity Board will be shared with stakeholders, development agencies and reforms experts to get their observations and recommendations for the final draft.
The Minister noted that once received from the stakeholders the final draft will be shared with Legal Draftsman and the Attorney General’s Department for certification by the end of the month.
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera added that the final draft of the new Electricity Act will be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval after the certification and to Parliament at the earliest.
