The Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath requested the public to keep COVID-19 vaccination cards safe, in the event it’s required for a fourth dose in the future.

Speaking at a media briefing today, Dr. Herath said the vaccination card currently issued is not fit to be carried around.

He added until information is added to a database and a QR code system is introduced the vaccination card should be used with caution.

Dr. Herath said the system could be available through mobile phone in future.

Accordingly, the Deputy Director General requested the public to refrain from laminating the vaccination card
