Health officials urge the public not to be alarmed even if they exhibit symptoms similar to that of COVID-19 after obtaining the booster dose or the third dose of the COVID-vaccine.
Speaking to media, the President of the Association of Specialist Family Physicians Consultant Family Physician Dr. Malkanthi Galhena said it is normal to have symptoms such as fever, headaches and fatigue for about three days after obtaining the third dose.
Dr. Galhena advised the public to drink as much liquid as possible and to use the prescribed dose of painkillers such as paracetamol in such a situation.
She said such symptoms mean that the vaccine is actively contributing towards activating the immunity system.
Dr. Galhena said the public must consume two litres of water daily and refrain from engaging in exhausting activities.
