A former Sri Lankan cricket commentator has been banned from leaving the country in relation to investigations being carried out into the murder of prominent businessman Dinesh Schaffter.
The order was issued by Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawala this evening (16).
Court informed that the individual has two passports and the overseas ban will apply on both documents.
The Borella Police requested Court to issue an order to telecommunication companies to submit details of the call logs of Dinesh Schaffter’s mobile phone to compile an investigative report.
Dinesh Schaffter was found bound in a vehicle at the Borella Cemetery last evening .
He was found strangled and his arms bound.
A colleague who located him, admitted Schaffter to the Colombo National Hospital.
However, 51-year-old Dinesh Schaffter passed away while being treated at the Intensive Care Unit.
Police said investigations revealed that a struggle had taken place inside the vehicle.
The Borella Police, the Criminal Investigation Department, the Organised Crimes Division, and the Murder Investigation Division are conducting investigations to arrest those responsible for the murder.
Investigative division are currently combing through CCTV footage obtained in the surrounding area.
