Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa says investigations into the death of businessman Dinesh Schaffter are underway continously.
Speaking at a media breifing today (23), SSP Thalduwa said owing to the nature of the murder an extensive period will be required to complete investigations.
He said 58 statements were recorded as of yesterday in relation to investigations that are underway.
Dinesh Schaffter was found strangled and his arms bound in a vehicle inside the Borella Cemetery on the 17th.
A colleague who located him, admitted Schaffter to the Colombo National Hospital.
However, 51-year-old Dinesh Schaffter passed away while being treated at the Intensive Care Unit.
Police said investigations revealed that a struggle had taken place inside the vehicle.
The Borella Police, the Criminal Investigation Department, the Organised Crimes Division, and the Murder Investigation Division are conducting investigations to arrest those responsible for the murder.
