The Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena has issued a set of health guidelines that will be effective from today till the 15th of December.
Accordingly, only a third of the maximum capacity of a reception hall can be used for weddings. However, the new guidelines state that the number of attendees should not exceed 200. The number of guests at outdoor weddings has been increased from the previous 150 limit to 250 persons. Meanwhile, alcohol will not be permitted under any circumstances at weddings.
The previous health guidelines have been relaxed with the capacity allowed at cinemas increased from 50% to 75%.
Furthermore, a third of the capacity not exceeding 100 persons have been allowed to dine-in while, 150 persons are allowed at an outdoor arrangement.
Meanwhile only one third will be allowed at all times at shops, groceries, pharmacies, and supermarkets.
According to the guidelines, the maximum number allowed at exhibitions and conventions must be limited to 150 persons.
Furthermore, tuition classes have been permitted only for Ordinary and Advanced Level students with a maximum of 50% of the halls capacity.
Meanwhile, according to the new guidelines in the event of a non-COVID related death, the remains should be released and the funeral held within 24 hours with a maximum of 20 persons allowed at a given time.
