State Minister Susil Premajayantha says the decision on resuming academic activities for students in Grades six to nine will be taken in the next two weeks.
Speaking in Parliament, State Minister Premajayantha said schools are reopening based on expert advice.
He said after health authorities issued the green light, they reopened primary schools and classes for students in Grades one to five in schools with more than 200 students.
State Minister Premajayantha said today, classes for students in Grades 10, 11, 12 and 13 resumed.
He said next week they will hold discussions pertaining to reopening schools for other grades.
The State Minister in response to a question raised by Parliamentarian Mujibur Rahman said permission could also be granted to resume tuition classes.
He said they are looking at the possibility of granting permission to conduct tuition classes for students in upper grades promptly.
