Decision on revising fuel quota today

A decision on revising the fuel quota allocated based on the National Fuel Pass QR system is scheduled to be taken today.

COLOMBO (NewsRadio); A decision on revising the fuel quota allocated based on the National Fuel Pass QR system is scheduled to be taken today.

The government increased the weekly fuel allowance for all vehicles on the 4th of April considering the festive period.

The Ministry of Power and Energy initially had decided to go back to the previous quotas starting tomorrow.

However, the Ministry has decided to reconsider the decision and therefore an announcement on whether or not the fuel allocations will be revised is scheduled to be made today.

The government increased the fuel allocations with effect from the 4th of April for all vehicles.

The fuel quota for three-wheelers was increased from 5 litres to 8 litres while for motorcycle was increased from 4 litres to 7 litres.

The weekly fuel quota for cars and vans was increased from 20 litres to 30 litres.

Furthermore, fuel quota for buses was increased from 40 litres to 60 litres, lorries from 50 litres to 75 litres and for special purpose vehicles the quota was increased to 30 litres from 20 litres.
