Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka has lamented the batting failure of his team who was beaten by India during yesterday’s first Twenty20 game at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo.
Sri Lanka lost another winnable encounter by 38 runs to India last evening.
Chasing a below par 165 runs, Lankan batters were once again poor in their execution.
Only four batsmen managed double digit scores as the home team was skittled out for a paltry 126 in 18.3 overs.
Earlier after winning the toss Sri Lanka restricted India to 164/5 in 20 overs.
After the game, skipper Shanaka said he felt that a target of 165 was gettable at the R Premadasa stadium.
He said, “I think 164 was chaseable on this wicket. I think their bowlers upfront started really well. And then there were not enough middle-order batters to finish the game.”
Shanaka said the bowlers did an amazing job and he is expecting the team to come out and do better in the next game.
The second T20 of the series will be played at the same venue tomorrow.
