COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Ministry of Power and Energy says it is confident of procuring required crude oil stocks to run the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery throughout next year.
The Ministry said steps have already been taken to bring down eight crude oil shipments to the country while discussions are underway to procure six more crude oil consignments.
The Ministry said by continuously operating the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery, naphtha needed for power generation in 2023 can be produced.
Operations of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery resumed on Friday after several weeks.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation said the refinery is functioning at full capacity.
The CPC said 1,600MT of diesel, 550MT of petrol, 950MT of kerosene oil and aviation fuel, 1,450MT of furnace oil and 450MT of naphtha are being produced through the refinery daily.
