Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila says a new organisation affiliated to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, will be established through which local gas will be made available to the market.
The Minister said he was granted Cabinet approval for this purpose.
Initial steps to set up a new oil refinery in Sapugaskanda has commenced by the Energy Ministry, while Minister Gammanpila said the CPC following the set-up of the oil refinery will meet 20% of the country’s local gas requirement.
The Minister believes LP gas will be available under competitive prices following the establishment of the new organisation.
