Vaccination of youth, aged between 20-29 years, residing in the Western Province and in the Galle district, against COVID-19 will begin this morning.
Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva said special centres have been established to vaccinate persons aged between 20-29 years, in all four districts.
Additionally, vaccines will be administered at the Viharamahadevi Park, Diyatha Uyana, Panagoda Army Camp and Army Medical Corps Headquarters in Werahera, in the Colombo District.
The Army Commander said the inoculation of persons aged between 20-29 years residing in other districts will not commence today.
Meanwhile, persons residing within the Colombo Municipal Council limits, aged between 20-30 years, will be administered COVID-19 vaccines from today at six centres.
Issuing a statement the CMC said the Sinopharm vaccine will be administered at the Sugathadasa Stadium, the office of the Ginthupitiya Medical Officer of Health, Forbes Road Community Hall, Campbell Park, Shalika Hall and Roxy Gardens in Wellawatte.
Permanent or temporary residents of Colombo 1-15, born in 2001 or before can get vaccinated at these centres.
The CMC said vaccinations will be carried out throughout this week, between 9am and 3pm.
