The Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation Dr. Prasanna Gunasena says Sri Lanka’s vaccination drive is entering its final stages.
Addressing a media briefing yesterday Dr. Gunasena said sufficient stocks of vaccine doses have arrived in the island in order to fully vaccinate youth above 18 years of age.
Dr. Gunasena said Sri Lanka’s population that is above 18 years is close to 15.6 million.
He noted that with the recent arrival of a consignment of Sputnik-V vaccine doses, Sri Lanka has thus far received 31.7 million vaccine doses, that is sufficient to fully vaccinate those eligible.
Therefore, Dr. Gunasena said the responsibility at present is to efficiently administer the vaccine doses.
