The Association of Government Medical Laboratory Technologists says they do not believe a fair and transparent investigation will be conducted into the missing data in the servers of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority.
Speaking to media yesterday President of the Association Ravi Kumudesh called for the NMRA, currently under the purview of the State Ministry of Pharmaceutical Production, Supply and Regulation, to be taken under the supervision of the Health Ministry, if a fair investigation is to be conducted.
He accused authorities of doctoring events such as investigations into the claims.
Kumudesh added, decision making at the NMRA cannot be influenced by the State Minister.
Kumudesh accused the government of regulating production, importation and distribution of medicines in a way that is beneficial to politically affiliated individuals.
Therefore he stressed the public cannot expect an independent and beneficial service through such an organisation.
Kumudesh questioned why no one was willing to reveal the identity of the alleged engineer who deleted the data.
