State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Channa Jayasumana says research conducted in the United State has found that the immunity boost through the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines have reduced significantly after a span of six months.
Speaking to media today the State Minister said the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine has dropped to 58%, the Moderna vaccine to 43% and the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to 13%.
The study observed individuals vaccinated from March to September in the US concluded a reduction in the efficacy rate.
Researchers suggest a booster shot and wearing of face masks at all times, as a safety protocol.
Therefore, State Minister Channa Jayasumana called on the public to follow health guidelines at all times.
