Sri Lanka’s coronavirus caseload today surpassed the grim milestone of 400,000.
Sri Lanka is the 60th nation to confirm more than 400,000 coronavirus cases since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out last year.
The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said the increase in the caseload comes with the confirmation of 4,484 patients who were not recorded over the past four days.
Accordingly, the number of COVID-19 infections confirmed in the country has increased to 403,285.
Meanwhile, another 2,163 persons who contracted the novel coronavirus have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals, raising the number of recoveries to 348,930.
The Epidemiology Unit said accordingly, 46,605 persons are currently receiving treatment for coronavirus at several facilities across the country.
The number of COVID-19 related deaths confirmed in Sri Lanka is at 7,750.
