Sri Lanka marks one year today since commencing the vaccine drive against the coronavirus.
A national commemoration will be held at the Ministry of Health this morning under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Provincial celebrations will be held simultaneously in each province under the patronage of Governors.
A booster vaccination week will also commence today to coincide with the completion of one year since vaccinations against COVID-19 began.
The programme will be carried out at hospitals and medical institutions across the island.
The Ministry of Health said the vaccination drive was officially launched in Sri Lanka on the 29th of January last year with more than 51 million stocks of vaccine doses having been imported to Sri Lanka.
