A special investigation will be carried out to determine whether the three mutations of the Delta coronavirus variant found in Sri Lanka have spread to Colombo and other parts.
The investigation will be conducted by the Department of the Allergy, Immunity and Cell Biology Unit of the Sri Jayewardenepura University.
Following the completion of the investigation, a comprehensive report will be handed over to the Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena.
Three mutations of the Delta variant have been identified in Sri Lanka.
State Minister Channa Jayasumana earlier this week said, the mutations have been identified as SA 222V, SA 701S and SA 1078S.
