The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment will resume vaccination of Sri Lankans leaving the country for employment from today.
The SLBFE said the new online portal “Covid-19 Vaccine for Migrant Workers” has been set up to vaccinate those leaving for foreign employment, and persons will be able to obtain the vaccine which is recognized by the host country. The SLBFE said more details can be obtained through its official website www.slbfe.lk. All such Sri Lankans must register with the SLBFE prior to their departure for foreign employment in terms of the provisions of the SLBFE Act No. 21 of 1985. Accordingly, in order to obtain COVID-19 vaccines under the programme, individuals are required to confirm that they are leaving for contractual employment and obtain registration with the SLBFE by paying the prescribed fees. The vaccination will take place at the Sri Lanka Army Hospital in Narahenpita and registered individuals will receive a SMS confirmation with the timeslot and date. The SLBFE said nearly 30,000 individuals have registered under the programme thus far and 12,000 have received the jabs.
