The decision by the Supreme Court to take up only ‘urgent’ matters in open court due to the prevailing coronavirus situation in the country has been extended.
Accordingly, the Supreme Court will take up only urgent matters in open court until the 3rd of September.
Registrar of the Supreme Court Pradeep Mahamuthugala in a statement said if there are any urgent matters among already scheduled applications which should be taken up in open court, a Motion containing an application should be directed to the Registrar before 9.30 AM on the scheduled date.
The Registrar said such urgent matters will be taken up in the designated court commencing at 11am.
However, litigants will not be permitted to enter the Superior Courts complex, unless permission has been obtained from the relevant presiding Judge.
Meanwhile, all Attorneys-at-Law have been requested to fully adhere to health guidelines issued by health authorities relating to the prevention of the spread of COVID-19.
