Quarantine curfew imposed across the island has been extended till 4am on the 13th of September.
The decision to extend quarantine curfew was reached during a meeting of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, that convened this morning.
Quarantine curfew came into effect, owing to the spike in coronavirus cases in the recent past, on the 20th of August and has since been extended twice.
Quarantine curfew was first imposed from the 20th to the 31st of August and was extended once again on the 28th of August till the 6th of September.
Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella taking to Twitter urged the public to adhere to health guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.
The Minister said recommendations determine that progress is being made in the vaccination programme in the interim to curb the current spike in coronavirus cases.
