The Opposition says the public must not trust the government to ensure their safety from the pandemic, and look into their personal wellbeing.
Speaking at a media briefing, Parliamentarian Eran Wickramaratne said the government must follow decisions taken via scientific research and refrain from promoting mythical beliefs.
He recalled that an expert committee predicted the death toll in Sri Lanka from COVID-19 to rise to 18,000 in the near future.
Parliamentarian Wickremeratne questioned who would be responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians.
The MP called on the public to self isolate for their own survival and safety.
