The proposals compiled by the Ministerial-Sub Committee appointed to provide solutions to teacher principal salary anomalies, will be handed over to Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa today.

Member of the Sub Committee Minister Mahinda Amaraweera yesterday said they considered positive proposals during discussions with the teacher and principal trade unions.

Speaking to News Radio, General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Service Union Mahinda Jayasinghe said they expect favourable solutions through the proposals.

He said they met with the Sub Committee for talks on Wednesday adding, the Committee informed that they will discuss the proposals with the Finance Ministry and subsequently table a report at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting next week.

Jayasinghe said they requested that recommendations in the ‘Subodhini’ committee report pertaining to salary anomalies be implemented.

He stated they hope a justifiable solution will be provided claiming that previous Cabinet Papers failed to solve their grievances.
