President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has advised the health sector to administer the Pfizer vaccine to children between the ages of 15 and 19.
Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva said the instructions were issued when the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 convened under the patronage of President Rajaaksa this morning.
Issuing a statement, Head of the National Operation Center for Prevention of COVID- 19 General Shavendra Silva noted although a decision was taken to extend the quarantine curfew until the 1st of October, the committee agreed to grant permission to resume operations at state institutions.
The Army Commander added that permission has been granted to resume partial operations at Department of Motor Traffic offices and Registrar General’s Department offices.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella previously announced that essential government services impacting the economy will be allowed to operate during curfew.
The Health Minister said conditions pertaining to easing certain restrictions will be notified shortly.
