President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has requested from authorities to submit a report with a set of guidelines to be followed, if the country is to be reopened after the 21st of September.
Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva said the President issued the directive earlier today.
The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 convened under the patronage of President Rajapaksa this morning.
During the meeting it was decided that the quarantine curfew imposed island-wide will be extended till the 21st of September.
Quarantine curfew was due to be lifted at 4am on Monday the 13th of September. Curfew was first imposed on the 20th of August and has since been extended on multiple occasions.
The Army Commander said meanwhile all economic centres in the country will remain open despite the imposition of curfew.
