A special operation was conducted yesterday with 448 officers on duty, to observe if the public is following health and safety guidelines recommended by the Director General of Health Services.
Speaking to media today Senior Superintendent of Police Nihal Thalduwa said the operation was conducted from 3 pm to 5 pm, and observed if health guidelines were followed at workplaces and modes of transportation.
SSP Thalduwa said 857 buses, 14 air-conditioned buses and 1,160 shops were inspected by Police.
Officers warned 327 buses, 35 a/c buses and 504 shop owners for failing to follow health regulations.
SSP Thalduwa assured that operations will continue in the coming days and requested the public to be mindful.
