The Public Health Inspectors Union has requested the public to act in a responsible manner during quarantine curfew.
The PHI requested the public to refrain from leaving homes by using various excuses and reasons.
Speaking to NewsRadio Secretary of the Union Mahendra Balasuriya said the Delta virus variant is highly transmissible, and claimed they therefore made several requests to impose a lockdown to contain its spread.
Balasuriya said this period will be crucial and requested that the public act responsibly.
Balasuriya also stated that Sri Lanka’s virus-related deaths are significantly high in comparison to other countries, and therefore highlighted the importance of ensuring the elderly stay indoors.
He pleaded with the public to be patient and remain indoors and to contribute to containing the coronavirus.
