The Ministry of Health has decided to issue new guidelines imposing restrictions on expectant women from being summoned to work.
Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi made this revelation in Parliament today.
The Minister said easing restrictions does not translate to all guidelines being lifted.
Therefore the Minister claimed new advise and guidelines are currently being compiled especially focused on the wellbeing of expectant women.
The Health Minister also stated the government’s goal is to administer at least one vaccine dose to all individuals above the age of 30 at the end of August.
She noted virus variants such as Alpha, Beta, Delta and Gamma have been identified across the world, while the Alpha, Beta and Delta variants have been detected in Sri Lanka thus far.
The Minister also stated that economic stability and livelihoods have to be upheld amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
