The Government Medical Officers’ Association has warned that the number of COVID-related deaths reported daily may exceed 400 if a stringent mechanism is not followed.
Speaking to media Member of the GMOA Executive Committee Dr. Prasad Colambage said serious concerns have arisen regarding the data reported pertaining to the number of COVID-19 patients and deaths.
He added therefore the right path is not clear, as the number of fatalities and infections are unclear.
Dr. Colambage noted relevant officials must carry out their duties in a stringent manner, and a system must be in place.
He claimed failure to do so will lead to a critical situation in future, and the number of fatalities may rise to 400 a day.
